There are many vegan, vegetarian and plant-forward individuals who are passionate about compassionate eating, plant-based cooking, animal welfare and the environmental and health impacts of our diet. ROOTIFUL provides several ways for its subscribers and visitors to connect with each other including a Public Square that offers 20+ chat rooms, each geared toward people looking to a different form of connection – a room for new vegans, one for people who want to talk about food and recipes, rooms for people who work in animal rescue, or are trying to start a new vegan business or just want to talk about their pets – with lots of different fun and enlivening conversations happening in each room. There is also The Arena with lots of different video connections including networking zoom calls, classes, webinars, book release parties and much more as well a News & Culture section full of stories, recipes, columnists and more and a soon to come Marketplace, which is an innovative version of an online exposition center.

ROOTIFUL has been created and supported by a group of pioneering vegan advocates, artists and businesspeople including the people behind VeganStreet.com.

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to help us bring Rootiful into the world. This is an opportunity to bring your talents to a highly creative and insightful team that is building something that will influence the world and make a lot of money in the process.

Role Overview

As CEO, you will help define and execute the strategic vision of the organization, drive business development and oversee digital marketing efforts. Your leadership and vision will foster a strong, engaged community, grow marketplace partnerships and establish Rootiful as the premier online destination for individuals and businesses in the plant-based movement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

• Work with our team to develop and implement a bold, long-term vision for Rootiful as a leader in the plant-based and community engagement spaces.

• Drive innovative growth strategies to expand membership, increase engagement and strengthen market position.

• Serve as a public face of ROOTIFUL, representing the brand at industry events, conferences and media opportunities.

Community Engagement & Growth

• Oversee content strategy and community engagement initiatives, fostering an active, vibrant community – digitally and offline.

• Build partnerships with influencers, thought leaders and organizations in the vegan and vegetarian ecosystem.

• Lead the execution of digital events, webinars and conferences to drive brand loyalty and engagement.

Online Marketing & Digital Growth

• Develop and execute a data-driven digital marketing strategy to increase user acquisition and optimize retention.

• Implement and oversee SEO, content marketing, email campaigns and paid advertising to drive traffic and conversions.

• Leverage analytics and user insights to refine engagement strategies and user experience.

Revenue Growth & Business Development

• Oversee monetization strategies, including partnerships, sponsorships, and e-commerce initiatives.

• Identify and implement new revenue opportunities in memberships, advertising, and premium content.

• Build relationships with ethical brands and businesses that align with the mission to grow the marketplace. 

• Work with the founders and creative team to build and manage a group of Content Creators who will be contributing to the content and activities on Rootiful.com.
   

Operational & Financial Leadership

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to ensure sustainable growth.

• Optimize operational systems and processes to enhance platform efficiency and user experience.

• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and purpose.
   

Key Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a digital-first company, online community, or e-commerce platform.

• Strong business background, and ability to be responsible for driving revenue and ensuring the company is financially sound. 

• Strong background in digital marketing, including SEO, content marketing, social media strategy and paid media campaigns.

• Passion for vegan and plant-based lifestyles, ethical eating and sustainability.

• Experience growing and monetizing online communities or membership-based platforms.

• Demonstrated ability to drive business development and revenue-generation results.

• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
